Dicksonia fibrosa - Wheki-Ponga, Golden Tree Fern
Dicksonia fibrosa, commonly known as Wheki-Ponga or the Golden Tree Fern, is the slowest-growing native tree fern in New Zealand. Its symmetrical form and exceptional hardiness make it one of the most popular and attractive tree ferns. The fibrous trunk, which can reach up to 60cm in diameter, develops a unique “skirt” of old fronds as they wither and hang down. Its light green, feathery fronds can grow up to 2 meters long, creating a lush, tropical effect.
