Gahnia pauciflora is a striking, tufted perennial sedge native to New Zealand, with bright green to yellow-green foliage. It produces distinctive dangling nuts, orange-brown in colour (sometimes yellow-cream), each tipped with a unique black apex. This hardy species plays a vital ecological role as a host and food plant for the rare forest ringlet butterfly (Dodonidia helmsii).

• Tolerant of Sun, Coastal Conditions & Free-Draining Soils
• Endemic Distribution: Throughout theNorth Island. South Island only present in the Nelson and Marlborough regions
