Ripogonum scandens - Supplejack, Kareao
Supplejack is a native New Zealand rainforest vine, known for its hard yet flexible stems that allow it to climb high into the forest canopy. It starts as a sapling stem, searching for support. Once it finds a tree or shrub to cling to, it rapidly grows up to 5cm per day in summer. As it matures, it develops branches and leaves. This liana-like vine thrives in forest and wetland environments, making it an excellent choice for native restoration projects.
