About:

This particular species is distributed across the South Island, extending from Cape Farewell down to Otago, where it thrives in various habitats including sandy soils, riverbeds, and boggy areas, ranging from sea level to an elevation of 1500m. It develops into distinctive mounds characterised by tight green foliage, and due to its impressive tolerance of a wide range of environmental conditions, it proves to be easier to establish in gardens and natural settings compared to other Scleranthus species. Moreover, it is less susceptible to dying off in patches, making it a reliable choice for various landscaping applications.

Natural habitat:

Coastal to high alpine in exposed rocky areas or cliff faces.

Growing environment:

Frost, Sun, Wind, Coastal & Free draining tolerant.
