About:

A slender mat-forming plant species that inhibits the lush northern forests of New Zealand's North Island, primarily found in areas north of the latitude 38°S. This unique plant features very small leaves that are sparse, adorned with straight, fine hairs that contribute to its distinctive appearance and ecological role within the forest ecosystem.

Natural habitat:

Damp forest and particularly in mossy places on poor soil, where it is protected from drying out.

Growing environment:

Shade, Wetland & Wind tolerant.

Endemic distribution:

New Zealand’s Three Kings Islands and North Island, from Te Paki to Waitomo and Gisborne.

Easily grown from fresh seed or division.
