About:

A vigorous and spreading ground-hugging plant characterised by its attractive oval leaves, which typically measure between 2-5 cm in length. During the spring and summer seasons, small white to bluish flowers emerge, adding a delicate touch to its foliage. This plant is primarily found in damp and swampy lowland areas across the North Island, extending its range southward to Central Otago in the South Island, where it thrives in similar moist environments.

Natural habitat:

This species prefers lowland, wet, sometimes swampy forest, pasture and is occasionally found on forest margins.

Frost, Sun, Shade, Wetland & Wind tolerant.

Endemic distribution:

Throughout New Zealand’s main Islands.

How to grow:

Easily grown from fresh seed or division.

** Seed germinates without pre treatment. 4 weeks cold stratification will help speed this up though
