About:

This is the fastest-growing species of Leptinella, which notably forms sprawling ground-hugging mats consisting of dense clusters of ferny yellowish green leaves that create a vibrant carpet effect in gardens and natural landscapes.

Natural habitat:

Coastal and inland up to 1000m. In the northern part of its range usually on the margins of salt-marshes but further south extending well inland in seepages and permanently open, damp turfs.

Growing environment:

Frost, Sun, Salt & Coastal tolerant.

Endemic distribution:

New Zealand’s North, South and Stewart Islands. Not known from Northland or Fiordland.

Uses:

Bird food / Attractant, Bee food & Ground cover

How to grow:

Very easy from rooted pieces. An excellent ground cover and ideal for lawns which are seasonally damp or somewhat poorly drained.
