About:

This is one of the whipcord species, growing to an impressive height of about 30cm. It is well branched and features tiny scale-like leaves that are a rich dark green, beautifully outlined with delicate white hairs. The branches are tipped with small, insignificant yellow to white flowers that bloom during the summer months. This plant typically thrives in rocky situations, flourishing in the drier lowland to alpine areas that stretch from Nelson down to Southland. It is best suited for cultivation by alpine enthusiasts who prefer a well-drained gritty soil mix to ensure optimal growth and health.

Natural habitat:

Found in rocky places in subalpine areas throughout the South Island, New Zealand. When not in flower it can be confused with a whipcord hebe.
