About:
H. stenophylla is a bushy, rounded to mound-forming evergreen shrub that features linear to narrowly lance-shaped leaves, which display a vibrant mid- to dark green colour. This attractive plant produces slender, dense spikes that are adorned with small, tubular, and delicate white flowers during the summer season.
Natural habitat:
Mostly on bluffs, terraces or rocky areas, often along streams and roadsides.
Growing environment:
Frost, Sun, Drought, Salt, Wind, Coastal & Free draining tolerant.
Endemic distribution:
New Zealand’s North and South Island - Central and eastern North Island from near Gisborne to Wanganui and northern Wairarapa, with outlying populations near Hamilton and the northern South Island as far south as a line from Westport to Cape Campbell.
