Natural habitat: 

Found throughout New Zealand as isolated populations in coastal scrub and forest margins.

Frost, Sun, Drought, Shade, Coastal & Wind tolerant.


Endemic distribution:

North and South Islands, found from near Pipiwai, Northland to Southland. Often uncommon over large parts of its range.

Flowering: 

December – February with a green or violet/purple coloured flower/s 


Fruiting:

January – March with purple berries.


Uses: 

Bird food / Attractant, Bee food & Flowers.

Easily grown from fresh seed.
