About:

A low-growing plant that typically reaches a modest height of just 15 cm tall, it features small, overlapping oblong leaves that create a lush green appearance. In summer and autumn, it bears slender stems adorned with flaring white flowers, adding a touch of brightness to its surroundings. This lovely plant is found in alpine areas starting from Mt Hikurangi and extending southward; however, it is quite rare in the South Island, making it a special find for avid plant enthusiasts. It is particularly suitable for cultivation in an alpine house or a rock garden, thriving best in a semi-shaded site that offers moist, gritty soil for optimal growth.

Natural habitat:

Montane to subalpine grassland, herb-fields and damp places, down to sea level in Fiordland.
