Eco-sourcing

What is Eco-sourcing? Eco-sourcing is the process by which we go out and collect seeds close to where they are to be planted. It's an important part of a restoration project. It means the plants will be suited to local conditions and more likely to survive. And most of all it can be quite a lot of fun to be out connecting with our local environment.

Below is a list of common NZ natives that may help or inspire you to get out into the bush and Eco-source for your own project.

This list comes courtesy of The Department of Conservation (DOC) and I have placed a link below for anyone looking for more information.

Please also bear in mind that anyone who is looking to go out eco-sourcing must have the permission from the landowner or apply for a permit from DOC if intending to eco-source on conservation land.
