A diverse variety of C. uniflora is found in the coastal regions surrounding Cook Strait and the Oamaru area. As this particular variety is classified as a lowland type, it tends to be significantly easier to cultivate and manage in various gardening settings.

Coastal to lowland areas in dune fields, grasslands & rock-faces

Growing environment:

Frost, Sun, Drought, Coastal, Wind & Free draining tolerant.

Endemic distribution:

New Zealand’s South Island around Cook Strait and Oamaru

** Seed germinates without pre treatment. 4 weeks cold stratification will help speed this up though
