This particular species serves as an intermediate form of the genus Craspedia that exists between the two more commonly known species, C. incana and C. uniflora.

Natural habitat:

Coastal through to low alpine tussock grassland and herb field areas

Growing environment:

Frost, Sun, Drought, Wind & Free draining tolerant.

Endemic distribution:

New Zealand, South Island only, in mountain tussock grassland and herb fields.

How to grow:

Grown from fresh seed. Best grown in an alpine house, needing a scree-like growing medium and excellent drainage to prevent the crown from rotting.

 

** Seed germinates without pre treatment. 4 weeks cold stratification will help speed this up though
