Plant facts:
This northern coastal species, commonly found from Great Barrier Island to Auckland's west coast, is characterised by its tufted structure and long, narrow leathery leaves that can reach lengths of approximately 30cm. The upper surface of the leaves exhibits a subtly silvery appearance, while the underside is thickly covered in tomentum, providing a distinctive texture. The flowering stem is robust, standing around 20cm tall and supporting daisies that range from 2.5 to 4cm in diameter. This plant thrives in either full sun or partial shade, provided it is planted in well-drained soil, making it a versatile choice for various garden settings.
Natural habitat:
Strictly coastal, on rock headlands, cliff faces, and islets, where it usually grows in low turf on peaty or silty soils. Occasionally found in coastal shrub-lands.

How to grow:
Easy from fresh seed and the division of whole plants. Prefers moist soils, with a sunny aspect, free from weeds.
** Seed germinates without pre treatment. 4 weeks cold stratification will help speed this up though
