About:

A low-growing shrubby species characterised by narrow, wavy, margined green leaves that are densely woolly on the underside. The daisies can reach widths of up to 5cm. This species is found in the alpine regions of the South Island, ranging from southern Marlborough to northern Otago. It thrives in full sun conditions and requires gritty, well-drained soil for optimal growth.

Natural habitat:

Montane to alpine in grassland, fell field and at the base of stable talus and scree slopes.

Growing environment:

Frost, Sun, Drought, Shade, Wind & Free draining tolerant.

Endemic distribution:

New Zealand’s South Island Easterly from south Marlborough to Otago

Height: 15cm

October - January with a white, yellow coloured flower/s

November - April

Uses:

Bird food / Attractant, Bee food & Riparian plantings

How to grow:

Propagation by seed or division, and cuttings for the shrubby species.

** Seed germinates without pre treatment. 4 weeks cold stratification will help speed this up though
