About:
A native of the beautiful Kermadec Islands, this remarkable sedge grows to an impressive height of about 50cm tall and forms a densely tufted and attractive plant. The ribbed leaves, which can reach widths of up to 1cm, are bright green in color and exhibit rough margins. This hardy sedge thrives best in either full sun or light shade and shows a clear preference for moist soil conditions. Furthermore, it is known for its very vigorous growth rate, making it an excellent choice for various gardening applications.
Natural habitat:
Coastal forest where it is usually found amongst boulders, rubble and near sea bird nesting sites. Sometimes found in open exposed places but generally prefers shaded situations.

Endemic distribution:
New Zealand’s Kermadec Islands group where it is known only from Raoul and Macauley Islands.

How to grow:
Grown from fresh seed or division. Easily grown in a warm sheltered site, prefers semi-shade. Very cold sensitive.
