About:
A tussock grass that can reach heights of up to 2m tall, this species resembles Toe Toe but is often regarded as more attractive when used as a specimen plant in landscaping. It is distinguished from other species of Chionochloa by its notably wide leaves and larger, more prominent flowering panicles. The delicate feathery flowers produced by this grass are a favourite choice for creating beautiful dried floral arrangements. Additionally, this plant is known for being hardy and remarkably easy to grow, making it a popular option for both novice and experienced gardeners.
Natural habitat:
Thrives in well drained, damp soils and open sunlight. The native grass is also frost hardy and adapts well to exposed sites.

Endemic distribution:
New Zealand’s North Island. Found in the Coromandel Peninsula and also can be found from the East Cape to Hawke's Bay.
